Some Friday...
Well, yesterday was Friday... and that's a good thing, I guess. It was going all right until about 6:00 pm when I went to get lottery tickets with some extra cash I had. I won $28 (yeah me!!). Then, I went to start my car and... nothing. The battery was fine, but the damn thing would not start. I called Shane to come help me out and (get this) the frame on his car was messed up so he could not help me. I got two guys to help me push the car off and it started. Shane's mom came by and I went up to Pikeville with her to borrow his brother-in-law's truck. I got home about 11:30 and was just exhausted. Geez... Shane's gonna go get the starter this morning and replace it for me. So, one of our cars will work!! Ha!! Hopefully today will be better!!!

Friday
Thank God it's Friday!!! I am not too sure what I'll be doing this weekend, but at least it is the weekend!!! Mimi and I were going to go to Charlie's funeral tomorrow, but we have changed our minds. It's almost an 8 hour drive one way and we would have had to stay at a hotel. That's a long way to drive to go cry, huh? We decided it would be better to remember Charlie the way we last saw him. Other than that, I think I may go to Pikeville on Saturday to see Shane's family and maybe ride 4-wheelers. I don't know yet. Oh, well, I'm gonna go get ready for work now. I just have to get through 8 hours then FREEDOM for 2 days!!!

My friend... We'll miss you!!!
Well, it happened today. Lil' Charlie passed away. He went into cardiac arrest and the doctors were unable to save him. This time, we know for sure. Angie got the news from his wife. I'm not sure when the funeral will be, but hopefull it will be this weekend so Mimi and I can go.
It's wierd... I cried so much last week for him. Now, I feel that I have no tears left to cry. The only thing that I can think of is that thankfully, he will not ever know what his "best friend" did to him.
We here on earth will miss him terribly, but I know that the angels in Heaven are rejoicing tonight.

Just an old sweet song keeps Charlie on our mind...

There were seven Spanish Angels,
At the alter of the Sun.
They were prayin' for the lovers,
In the valley of the gun.
When the battle stopped,
And the smoke cleared.
There was thunder from the throne.
And seven Spanish angels,
Took another angel home.
Willie Nelson, "Seven Spanish Angels"
Three months ago, Lil' Charlie went home to be with his family. This evening Lil' Charlie went home to be with the Lord. Charlie was a dear and precious friend and I was so lucky to have known him for the years I did. Never did a day go by when I did not think of him, my Rock City Gnome.
I met Charlie about four years ago at a karaoke bar named Walt's. I remember he was singing "Purple Rain" and I was thinking, "What the heck is this crazy old man doing?" I swear, that man never met a stranger. He was the friendliest, most fun and lively man I have ever known, and I am so blessed to have known him.
Charlie's smile was infectious and the minute he entered a room, the party started. He was a man who loved and was loved by many. He showed me that it does not matter how old you are, you can still kick up your heels and have a good time. If ever I was feeling down, he would lift my spirits. Heck, even when he was not there, I would just think of him and realize that there is always good and happiness in the situation.
I know that Charlie is in a better place, but I also know that those of us here are missing him greatly. So, here's to Lil' Charlie!!! May he rest in Heaven's most swinging karaoke bar singing his heart out!!!
